A Portland business owner says she was targeted for hosting an event with Portland police.
Loretta Guzman owns Bison Coffee House on Northeast Cully.
She said she posted Tuesday that she was hosting a “Coffee with a Cop” event Wednesday and immediately started getting backlash online.
Then early Wednesday morning surveillance video showed six people show up outside the business. They broke the windows and front door, and then sprayed the entire inside with white paint.
Guzman explained to KATU why she decided to host the event and what she hoped to accomplish.
"I was hoping that people could come voice their opinions and their concerns and maybe make things more positive for everybody, because if we don't speak up, there's no change," she said. "So, I was just hoping we could try moving forward."
Despite the vandalism, Guzman still went forward with the event.
She has no idea what it’ll cost to fix the damage from vandals.
No arrests have been made.
Police officers helped with the cleanup.
