SPRINGFIELD — Family and friends of Shauna Cameron are remembering her this evening on what would have been her 32nd birthday.

Cameron was shot and killed on Mother’s Day when someone fired a weapon at the car she was in as a passenger on U.S. 35 in Riverside.

There is a cake, cupcakes, balloons, photos of Cameron and her favorite candy -- Airheads.

The gathering is occurring now at the Cole Manor Apartments in Springfield, where Cameron lived.

This is the second celebration for Cameron. People in Springfield gathered a few days after she was slain, many of them wearing all things tie dye for Cameron.

Cameron’s mother is happy the community has come out in support of her daughter.

“It helps with the pain to be able to endure it because I know that one, I’m not the only one, Stacy Cameron told News Center 7′s Haley Kosik. “There are so many people that have endured loss to gun violence.”

The young woman’s killer has not been caught.

News Center 7 has reached out to Riverside police for an update on the homicide investigation.
