Metro Detroit 2022 high school football power rankings for Week 7

Belleville head coach Jermain Crowell presents his team with the trophy after Belleville defeated Novi during the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State University in Detroit on Friday, Aug. 26, 2022.

Livonia Franklin hops into the Metro Detroit top 10 for the first time this week while River Rouge reappears as well.

Here are the top 10 football teams in the Metro Detroit coverage area, along with the top 10 in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

METRO DETROIT TOP 10

10. River Rouge (4-1)

After a 68-0 win over Hamtramck, things get tougher for the Panthers in the next few weeks. A trip to Allen Park this week will be a good warmup for a game against Warren De La Salle in Week 8.

9. Livonia Franklin (6-0)

The Patriots are rolling and seemed destined for a Week 8 showdown with unbeaten Belleville. First, it needs to get through its home matchup against Dearborn Fordson.

8. Clarkston (4-2)

After Clarkston’s 28-14 win over Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, the Wolves are hoping to win three-straight for the first time this season when it travels into hostile territory to face archrival Lake Orion.

7. Clinton Township Chippewa Valley (5-1)

Chippewa Valley had no issue bouncing back from its first defeat by beating Sterling Heights Stevenson, 49-13. Up next is a trip to face an always tough Romeo team.

6. West Bloomfield (5-1)

West Bloomfield got back on the winning track last week with a comfortable 41-14 win over Lake Orion. The Lakers host a struggling Oxford squad next.

4. Macomb Dakota (6-0)

Dakota continues to grind out wins in the tough MAC Red, adding a 21-14 win to its resume. Dakota will host Utica Eisenhower next.

3. Warren De La Salle (5-1)

If defense wins championships, De La Salle certainly looked like a championship team on Sunday when it smothered Detroit Catholic Central, 28-0, in the Boys Bowl. Up next is a trip to Ohio to face a struggling 1-5 Dayton Ponitz team.

2. Detroit Martin Luther King (4-1)

King recorded its second consecutive shutout with a 38-0 win over Detroit Renaissance last week. King has a good chance to keep that streak going against Detroit Western International this week.

Belleville continues to look like it is far and above the rest of the KLAA, beating opponents by an average of 55.3-7.8 through six games. After its 56-0 win over Westland John Glenn last week, Livonia Stevenson is lined up as the next victim.
