Hancock, Samuel Wayne 4Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Samuel Wayne Hancock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Sam was born in Floyd County to Reginald & Sylvia Hancock on September 26, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Hancock; and sister, Joyce Duncan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Brenda Belcher Hancock; his loving children, Stephanie Link (Stephen), Tracy Hancock, Stephen Hancock; grandchildren, Chelseah Hylton, Dylan McDowell, Morganne McDowell, Hunter Earman, and Addison Hancock; nine great-grandchildren; and uncle, Sebert Rorrer (Jean). Sam is also survived by many cousins and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law that will miss him dearly.

In his working years, Sam was the owner of Highland Hardwoods. He was a very talented woodworker and brilliant businessman. Sam was a Gideon and Deacon of Topeco Church of the Brethren for 51 years and served in many capacities in the church, teaching and singing in the choir. He had many dear friends and cherished his church family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Topeco Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ted Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Topeco Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the community, our church family, and all of the caregivers for the many acts of kindness shown to our family during this time.
