Sweet Home police logs, Sept. 26 – Oct. 2, 2022

Sept. 26

1:45 a.m. – Jonathan Perez, 27, of Salem, arrested for contempt of court, 44900 block Quartzville Rd.

3:24 a.m. – Caller reported laser being aimed at town from foothills, Marks Ridge/North River drives. Sheriff’s Office unable to locate source.

5:17 a.m. – Caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of Hwy. 228/Crawfordsville Drive. Turned out to be an individual sleeping in a vehicle on county right-of-way. No hazard, no crime.

12:44 p.m. – Frank Coelho, 67, of Lebanon, was cited on a warrant, 39500 block of Crawfordsville Drive. Report taken.

5:09 p.m. – Caller reported that a male stole his wallet, 2200 block of Nandina St. Officer responded. The male denied having it. Bryce William McGowan, 38, was cited and released on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of criminal driving, an Albany Municipal Court warrant for driving with a suspended license and a Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree disorderly conduct.

6:04 p.m. – Caller reported the theft of a battery and other parts from her vehicle, 900 block of 7th Ave. Report taken for second-degree theft. Loss of value: $200.

6:17 p.m. – Motorcycle crash reported in 41900 block North River Dr. According to Sheriff’s Office, operator was negotiating a curve when crash occurred. No injuries, no property damage reported. Damage to motorcycle less than $2,500. Further details unavailable.

6:25 p.m. – Harley Michelle Webb, 28, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of third-degree theft; a Linn County Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of hindering prosecution, unlawful possession of heroin, identity theft, fraudulent use of credit card, and first- and second-degree theft; and an Albany Municipal Court cite-and-release warrant for third-degree theft, 800 block of Long St.

7 p.m. – Caller reported “habitual” speeding motorcyclist on Northside Drive, near Pleasant Valley. Deputy located the motorcycle, which was traveling 43 mph in a 45-mph zone at the time. Extra patrols will be conducted as time allows.

Sept. 27

7:14 a.m. – Driver cited for speeding, 85/55, Hwy. 20/Brushwood Road. Name not available at press time.

10:04 a.m. – Ethan Michael Chiaffino was cited for driving uninsured and failure to display plate, 43rd Ave./Long St.

11:36 a.m. – Caller reported a cut fence, plus items taken from Sweet Home Gleaners and strung across their property and neighboring property, 3100 block of Main St. Report taken for second-degree criminal mischief.

4:09 p.m. – Caller reported that a neighbor attempted to hit her son with his vehicle while his small child was in the car with him, 1100 block of 18th Ave. Report taken for menacing. Parties were separated and agreed to remain so.

4:46 p.m. – Caller wanted to report an identity theft. The victim is in the Oregon State Penitentiary. Deputies planned to call the penitentiary during normal business hours. Investigation is ongoing. 27000 block of Fern Ridge Road.

6:46 p.m. – Caller reported their vehicle stolen from 51300 block Quartzville Rd. Further details unavailable. Investigation ongoing. Report taken.

9:47 p.m. – Brandon Kyle Alexander, 31, was cited and released on a Marion County Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of attempting to elude a police officer, Wiley Creek Park.

Sept. 28

4:53 a.m. – Anita Pauline Wolfe-Holley, 49, was cited and released on a Linn County Justice Court warrant for failure to appear on a second-degree original charge, Sankey Park, 877 14th Ave.

8:33 a.m. – Caller reported a male attempting to steal items, 600 block of Main St. Cameron Michael Wark, 33, was cited and released for third-degree theft.

9:55 a.m. – Caller reported the possible theft of her two dogs, 5400 block of Main St. Report taken for first-degree theft.

11:12 a.m. – Burglary reported at a home in the 39600 block of Crawfordsville Drive. Unknown when it occurred, although it was within the past three weeks. Homeowner noticed jewelry missing, valued at $1,200. Report taken.

Sept. 29

7:36 a.m. – Deputy patrolled Hwy. 20 from Foster to Menear’s Bend. Winched boulders back in place that had been moved earlier in the year.

9:14 a.m. – Heather Linn Thompson, 42, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on original charges of second-degree criminal trespass, second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief. Cited and released on Linn County Circuit Court statewide felony warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle, 1950 Main St.

1:36 p.m. – Caller reported that a female had taken her vehicle and backpack with her belongings inside, 4600 block of Kalmia St. The suspect returned the vehicle but not the backpack. Report taken for unauthorized use of vehicle and third-degree theft.

3:34 p.m. – Multiple callers reported a disturbance in the 700 block of Mountain View Road. Chelsea Leann Baxter, 33, was arrested on a Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving with a suspended license. Joshua Scott Dawson, 43, was cited and released for second-degree criminal mischief.

4:33 p.m. – Linda McCarthy, 74, was cited for speeding 84/55, near milepost 12, Hwy. 34/Goltra Road.

5:03 p.m. – Deputy contacted a suspicious person who, a caller thought, was canvassing homes in the area of McDowell Creek Drive/Craig Lane. Individual gave consent for a deputy to check the phone. All he had was photos of animals in pastures. No further action.

5:38 p.m. – Sterling Daniel Sherburn, 22, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of third-degree theft, Lebanon Police Department.

9:15 p.m. – Caller requested a welfare check on his parents in the 28000 block of Pleasant Valley Road. Investigation determined that the parents no longer lived in Sweet Home or in Linn County.

Sept. 30

7:11 a.m. – Subject had returned to retrieve property that a caller didn’t believe belonged to him, 3100 block of Main St. Robert Edward Hilliard, 52, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of driving with a suspended license and a Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for driving with a suspended license.

8:52 a.m. – Ryan Shelton, 29, of Sweet Home, was cited and released for driving while suspended following a single-vehicle crash in the 43400 block of Wiley Creek Drive. Report taken.

4:38 p.m. – Officer reported a noninjury motor vehicle crash, 22nd Ave./Main St. Report taken. Damage: more than $2,500.

8:27 p.m. – Jonathan Weidner, 49, of Sweet Home, was cited and released for driving under the influence of intoxicants, 51200 block of Quartzville Road. Evaluated on police officer hold at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. Report taken.

10:20 p.m. – April Pettengill, 54, was cited for driving with a suspended license and driving uninsured, Sun Motel, 3026 Hwy. 20..

Oct. 1

9:57 a.m. – Caller reported that a female had broken into a truck where he was sleeping and assaulted him, 3100 block of Main St. Report taken for harassment and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

1:20 p.m. – Caller reported an RV break-in, 4300 block of Main St. Report taken for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree theft.

1:47 p.m. – Caller reported that a friend had borrowed but not returned a vehicle, 3100 block of Main St. Report taken for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

6:46 p.m. – Multiple callers reported that a male was yelling at them and destroying their property, 3200 block of Main St. Luke David Rice, 33, was cited and released for harassment X2, second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief.

Oct. 2

1:49 a.m. – Caller reported that his car was stolen with his dog inside, Chewy’s Pub & Grub, 1200 12th Ave. Report taken for unauthorized use of vehicle.

8:02 a.m. – Robert Edward Hilliard, 52, was arrested for domestic violence strangulation, 3100 block of Main St.

9:07 a.m. – Caller reported an entry into an unlocked van the previous evening, 1000 block of Nandina St. Report taken for unauthorized entry into motor vehicle and attempted unauthorized use of vehicle.

3:42 p.m. – Deputy checked camp that was to be vacated by this date, milepost 20.5 on Quartzville Road. Camp was empty and clear, “with the exception of a large amount of dog poop.”

7:46 p.m. – Mikeal Gerald Patrick Strawn, 27, was cited and released for hit-and-run, 1950 Main St. Sweet Home Police Department.
