One dead after tractor-trailer crash in Fayette County

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) — One man is dead after a crash near Union Township, Fayette County, Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Wilmington post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 4:36 p.m. along US 62 just north of SR 753.

Christopher Stinespring, 48, of Madison, was driving a 2013 GMC pickup truck northeast on US 62 when the pickup truck crossed the center of the road, according to police. The pickup hit the left side of a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer, which was driving southwest on US 62. Both vehicles then traveled off the road.

Stinespring was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 41-year-old man, and a passenger were treated for minor injuries.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington Courthouse Fire Department, Fayette County EMS, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
