SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident
Just after 8:30a.m. Wednesday police responded to a report of a car vs. pedestrian injury accident in the southbound lanes of the 3700 block of SW Topeka Boulevard, according to Sgt. Justin Joyce.
Upon arrival, officers located one adult woman in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries. An ambulance transported her to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was on scene and uninjured. The Topeka Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team was on scene investigating. Police have not released the name of the pedestrian.
The roadway reopened to traffic late Wednesday afternoon.
