Police said Wednesday they have arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with Monday afternoon's shooting in southwest Springfield.

The shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. on an access road not far from the McDonald's restaurant on Battlefield Road near Kansas Expressway.

Witnesses say they saw the victim walking when a car pulled up and the driver and victim began arguing. Witnesses say the driver then shot the man before fleeing the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police did not provide an update Wednesday on the victim's condition, saying only that he was still alive.
