It’s safe to say Drew Barrymore will not be getting involved in any more of her daughters’ fights. During today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Showthe D’Amelio family got a taste of Barrymore’s exuberant personality as they offered the host some advice on how to handle disagreements between her two daughters — something that sent her in a frenzy around the stage that seemingly only parents would understand.

Barrymore, who has daughters Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8, asked Charli and Dixie D’Amelio when the appropriate time to “lean in” and “lean out” is. The two sisters admitted that they “absolutely hated each other” all through middle school. According to them, it was so bad that they would go “weeks without talking,” despite living in the same house and sharing a wall.

“Until we got into high school together then we became best friends,” Dixie told Barrymore. “[Charli] would come with me to every party on the weekend, like it just happened out of nowhere though.”

Now that the two have moved out and currently share their own place together, they admitted they don’t remember the last time they argued. Though Charli pointed out that the “most annoying” thing that would happen when they would fight was when their parents would get involved. She added that by that point, they were “already over it.”

Dixie echoed her sister’s conclusion, admitting, “When parents get involved in sisters’ fights I think it makes it so much worse because we’re done,” which immediately struck a chord with Barrymore, who jumped out of her seat and ran around the stage yelling, “Oh my god, I’m so excited right now! You don’t understand!”

When she finally got back to her seat, she added that she feels the same way — that she would let her daughters work it out, though “not about everything or when it’s dangerous.” The excitement rolled back around as she threw her head back and let out another yelp before apologizing for her overzealous reaction, telling the family, “Thank you. I’m so sorry but this is such great news.”

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays at 9:30 a.m. ET on CBS.
