Live Doppler 13 Weather Blog: Update on fall foliage in central Indiana

Most of central Indiana is expected to see our peak fall leaf colors closer to Halloween through the first week of November.

INDIANAPOLIS — We're now a couple of weeks into fall, as we watch the leaf cam down in Brown County starting to show more color changes.

Based on the climatology of leaf color change in Indiana, central parts of the state should be reporting minimal change with more patchy color changes in the northern tier of the state.

Our weather here recently has been working in our favor. In order to see more vibrant colors, seasonally warm days with more sunshine and cool, crisp nights are needed. More muted colors would develop if we had unusually warm fall days with temperatures staying more warm or mild during the overnight hours.
