NASCAR playoff racer Alex Bowman to miss Roval with concussion

The crash at Texas has brought playoff implications for Hendrick Motorsports

This weekend, NASCAR returns to the Charlotte Roval. It’s a playoff elimination event as the final race of three in the Round of 12.

Alex Bowman was injured in a crash at Texas Motor Speedway. Similar to Kurt Busch, who’s also out with a concussion, Bowman backed the car, rear first into the outside wall.

Bowman sat out last week at Talladega as Noah Gragson filled the seat. Now, Bowman will also miss Charlotte as Gragson fills the seat once more.

Four of the 12 playoff drivers will be eliminated from playoff competition after this weekend’s event. Per the rules, Bowman is now a lock to be one of the four drivers eliminated.

Bowman joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2018. He’s made the playoffs every year.

Three drivers are now sidelined with injuries. Bowman, Kurt Busch and Cody Ware are on that list as all three will miss this weekend’s race.

NASCAR is currently in the process of making changes to the rear of the Next Gen car. However, those changes won’t be applied until 2023.
