Active COVID-19 cases continued to decline Wednesday in West Virginia.

The state’s active case total now sits at 1,002, down a little more than 25 from the previous day, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Officials reported 367 new positive cases for the day.

No new virus-related deaths were reported Wednesday, keeping West Virginia's total during the pandemic at 7,436.

As of Tuesday, hospitalizations stood at 197, including 30 people in intensive care and 12 people on ventilators.

The cumulative positive test rate remained at 8.57% for the day while the daily positive test rate came in at 6.17%.

Thirteen of the state’s 55 counties were yellow in the DHHR’s daily alert map. The yellow counties were: Mingo, Wyoming, Mercer, Gilmer, Lewis, Doddridge, Tyler, Barbour, Taylor, Tucker, Pocahontas, Pendleton and Jefferson. All other counties were green.
