Jerry O’Connell was forced to uncomfortably defend his co-hosts from The Talk during Monday night’s (Oct. 3) episode of Watch What Happens Live when host Andy Cohen gave a little too much praise to the actor.

O’Connell, who appeared on WWHL with his wife, Rebecca Romijn, had just wrapped up saying he would defend his friends on-air even if he knew they did something wrong, referencing the situation with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais where she opened up about castmate Erika Jayne’s legal issues on The Real without giving her a heads up.

Cohen wasted no time taking the opportunity to throw a little jab at O’Connell’s co-stars on The Talk, where he has been a permanent host since replacing Sharon Osbourne in 2021.

“I have to say I’ve been noticing, I mean all day, Jerry, because I saw you this morning too. You’ve been hunched all day and I know that it’s because you are carrying The Talk on your back,” he told O’Connell, who smiled awkwardly as his wife hid her face in her hands laughing.

Cohen added, “I’m sorry but, like, CBS should quadruple your salary because there is one person who is carrying that show and I’m sorry but he’s sitting right here, because without Jerry, there ain’t no show.”

The entire time Cohen was praising O’Connell, he was talking over him, trying to defend his co-hosts, who consist of Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, and Natalie Morales. O’Connell emphasized that they are “all friends” and that “we love everyone at The Talk.” He also reminded Cohen that he’s “currently employed there” and that he has “to see them in six hours.”

When O’Connell added, “Andy’s words. Not mine. I love everyone. I love the world,” Cohen got in one more dig, telling the audience, “But guess what? There’s no show there without Jerry.” Luckily for O’Connell, this is the least of Cohen’s pot-stirring. We can only imagine how much more he would’ve said if he had as many tequila shots as he did on New Year’s Eve 2021.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10/9c on Bravo and The Talk airs on weekdays at 2 p.m. ET on CBS.
