The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team used recent strong play to continue their climb in the Class 3A rankings this week. In the latest poll issued by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, the Hawks are up to No. 11 in the state, from No. 13 a week ago. Mid-Prairie has won eight of their last nine matches including the tournament title over the weekend at New London, a four set Senior Night win over Tipton last week, and a sweep of Independence on the road Monday. The Hawks are led on the year by sophomore Dakota Mitchell’s 353 digs, fourth in Class 3A, senior Landry Pacha’s 228 assists and 151 kills each seventh in the River Valley Conference and senior Ella Groenewold’s 55 blocks, best in the RVC. Mid-Prairie will next be in action Thursday at rival Iowa City Regina.
