  • Nashville SC can secure a home-field advantage in the MLS Cup Playoffs, but will need to beat No. 1 overall seed Los Angeles FC on Sunday.
  • With a Nashville win, the LA Galaxy must lose or tie its game at Houston Dynamo FC.
  • Nashville SC won each of its home playoff games in 2020 and 2021, its first two years as an MLS franchise.

Nashville SC can score home-field advantage in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs with a win Sunday at Los Angeles FC — but needs help from the team that spoiled its regular-season home finale one week ago.

To secure home-field advantage in round one, Nashville must win its final game at LAFC (4 p.m., MyTV30) and hope the LA Galaxy ties or loses to the playoff-eliminated Houston Dynamo, which beat Nashville last Sunday, 2-1, at Geodis Park. Heading into MLS Decision Day, fifth-place Nashville (12-10-11, 47 points) trails the fourth-place Galaxy by one win (13-12-8, 47 points) in the Western Conference standings. Total wins is the first tiebreaker if point totals are level.
