Grand jury begins hearing evidence in Poughkeepsie slaying of LI father visiting Marist

A grand jury has begun hearing evidence in the Poughkeepsie hotel slaying of a father who was visiting Marist.
Roy Johnson Jr., 35, and Devin Taylor, 26, are facing charges in the death of Paul Kutz - from Long Island.
Kutz was fatally struck by a stray bullets when two homeless men opened fire inside of a Poughkeepsie Hotel Sunday morning, according to authorities. The 53-year-old was staying at the hotel while visiting his son at Marist College's parents weekend.
Authorities say Johnson and Taylor were arguing and trying to shoot each other when Kutz was struck. They added the incident was unprovoked.
According to court documents, Johnson faces second-degree murder for intentionally discharging his gun and having a loaded semi-automatic 9-mm gun. Taylor faces a pair of weapons charges for having a P-22 and an A-R style rifle that had a collapsible stock but no serial number.
Investigators added they also found bomb making materials and instructions in one of the suspects' rooms.
