A former Massachusetts state trooper is now facing drunken driving charges in a 2021 crash that killed a motorcyclist. Kristopher Carr, 26, of Monson, was charged with motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence of alcohol. Carr is accused of driving while drunk during the early morning hours of Oct. 29, 2021, about one week after he graduated and was assigned to the State Police-Westfield Barracks as a probationary member of the department. Investigators said Carr was driving in the far left lane on Interstate 93 in Boston when he leaned over to kiss a woman in the passenger seat, swerved and struck the median.Airbags deployed in Carr's SUV and it came to a stop perpendicular to the median, where a motorcycle ridden by Christopher Zike, 51, of Winthrop, struck the vehicle. Zike was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering injuries that resulted in his death.Carr and his passenger, a 24-year-old woman, were able to get out of the vehicle. They suffered minor injuries.Carr had just graduated from State Police Academy a few days before the crash.
