Kym - Is she being held hostage?

I’ve enjoyed both live shows so far and think this years cast are a good one. But I can’t help but think that Kym looks unhappy and disinterested in the whole thing. Maybe I’m doing her a disservice, maybe that’s just her natural facial expressions but there’s something about her I’m not buying. And I like Graz, he’s a lovely lovely man irl so no real reason for to be unhappy there. What do others think?

She does seem to be trying to climb over the arm of the sofa to get away from Graziano on "It Takes Two"!

Both times they've been on and he doesn't seem his usual happy self.

I did think that in the paddle game video on Instagram last week Graz seemed a bit quiet, compared to how he was with Judi in the same video last year.

Kym seems fine to me! Maybe she’s just not as excited about it as a lot of the celebrities are?

Does Kym actually warrant all this concern ? She is only someone I'll remember for forming Hear'Say, playing Steve McDonald's wife Michelle for years on Corrie, and featuring regularly in the Daily Mail for getting engaged, married or divorced several times over. Now with Graziano who's a very nice guy but not the best Pro they've ever hired I can't be bothered to watch them quite frankly.

I'm the same though I assure you, I make up my mind at week one and stick with it, whoever they are, and half the time I've never seen or heard of them before. That's what happened last year with Rose, and now this year with Hamza.
Kym was never going to be in it for the long haul anyhow, and I'm getting the impression from people's comments that she's likely to be a shock exit, which doesn't surprise me.

Two things annoy me about some celebs
    - talking at length about their families
    - discussing fitting in Strictly into their "busy" schedules.

Kym has been guilty of both from the start - I didn't really have much of an opinion before Strictly, but so far I'm not overly keen. Her dancing is OK, but it doesn't seem to be a great partnership - whether that is just one of those things or if there's more to it I don't really know.

I think Graziano seems a lovely guy, but not sure if he can bring out much joy/enthusiasm from her?

It is such a great privilege to be on the show and it is nice when there is some indication of genuine gratitude from the contestants.

Kym can stay couple more weeks for me personally, at least longer than the cannon fodder types: Matt, Ellie T

Maybe she's just more reserved than the others or finding it tiring or it's not what she expected. I mean they do actually have to train and learn a dance in four days each week and perform it to judges, an audience and millions of people on TV so I wouldn't be surprised if she was finding it tough.

Katie McGlynn had a nightmare last year trying to make Strictly work around a big storyline in her soap (was it Hollyoaks?), I wonder if Kym has something similar going on? She looks a bit tired to me and maybe feeling the pressure.

Anyway, looks like the press team are busy.

I've not noticed anything but yes she wouldn't be the first in this scenario and won't be the last.

Kym has a natural resting bitch face!

She is lucky she gets to dance with sexy Graz!

Graz choreographed a lovely V waltz, even the judges said so. So those who said he cannot do ballroom, balls to you.

Kym said she had a medical condition which made her ill in the spins cause by a previous ear infection. She wanted to be partnered with Graziano because they got on so well on Morning Live. She might be a bit tired having to fit everything in with her day job and the extras such as filming out of the studio for both weeks pre dance videos.

Surprised Helen isn't in the thread title. Claudia seems to be carrying out a welfare check every week on what's going on in the training room, plus they way she sticks her thumb up for Gorka to answer questions for her. Helen's reaction getting through to next week seemed to be a bit too in sync to not be pre rehearsed.

Plus a lot of them ramp up enthusiasm levels to hysterical teenager mode and we never hear the end of them being 'superfans'. I think it makes those who just hobble along taking the rough with the smooth of Strictly, like normal humans, seem the ones who are off-kilter. A lot, and I mean A LOT, of 'celebs' turn down or donot respond positively to feelers to take part in this show we love. There are good reasons for that, and yet there is a real hostility towards anyone who dares to suggest Strictly may not always be a bed of roses/they will not be lifelong friends with their pro, or otherwise just treats it as another paid gig.

I thought she seemed like she was being forced to do the show initially, however, after seeing her very elated reaction at getting through on Sunday, I now think she’s just

    a) tired from her packed schedule

    b) a bit wary of the press attention that standing closely to Graziano might bring (an exaggeration obviously, but her previous relationships have been tabloid fodder compared to someone like Ellie T or Kaye, she’ll be aware)

and c) has resting bitch face. I relate, because I do too.

I just feel Graziano is a bit dull for her and I don’t rate him at all as he was poor with Vick Hope and didn’t get the full potential out of her. I fear he will go the same way with Kym.
I know she said she wanted him anyway but can’t help feeling herself and Gio would have been a much more electric pairing.

Oh, yes, bring up Vick Hope, who many on here seemed to have marked as a finalist before she even hit the dance floor. Then of course it was all the fault of Graziano. When it turned out no it was not, she was just a lazy cow who could not be arsed doing the training. How many years ago is that now? Since then every partner he has trained adores him saying how caring he is and makes sure they are comfortable with the chorography he has for them.

No, Kim, would be exactly the same with Gio. Electric my backside.
