Crews battle two structure fires along Laney Walker Boulevard

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Richmond County crews fought a structure fire late Tuesday on James Brown Boulevard at Laney Walker Boulevard.

According to dispatchers with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, crews were called to respond at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators on the scene said the fire started in the back of a vacant home. No injuries were reported.

A few hours later, crews responded to another structure fire along Laney Walker Boulevard.

Crews were dispatched to a fire at 5:44 a.m. to Laney Walker and Emmett Drive, according to the Augusta Fire Department.

The two-story brick and wood home at 1132 Emmett St. was vacant and the fire may have been caused by homeless people, the department said.

There were no injuries.
