(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An investigation continues in northwest suburban Wheeling after Holmes Middle School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon following reports of a possible gun in the school.
It turns out the weapon was an “airsoft” BB gun. Classes were eventually dismissed without any injuries.
Wednesday classes were already been cancelled because of Yom Kippur, and school officials say classes will resume Thursday as scheduled with a heightened police presence.
