(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Doctors, including Chicago’s health commissioner, anticipate a robust flu season this year, now that COVID infections have decreased and people may be taking fewer precautions.

"I would be shocked if this year we didn't have the worst flu season that we've had while COVID has been with us,” Dr. Allison Arwady said Tuesday.

She urged Chicagoans to get their flu vaccine as soon as possible.

“It takes a couple of weeks for the protection to starting kick in after you get a flu vaccine,” she said.
