BRIAN, REPORTER: ONE JUVENILE, TWO SEPARATE INCIDENCES. IN BOTH CASES HE WAS CHARGED WITH RUNNING OVER PEOPLE - BOTH IN CASES - USING A STOLEN CAR. IT’S A CRIME THAT LEFT ONE UC STUDENT DEAD - ANOTHER INJURED AND THOSE CLOSEST TO THEM HOPING THEY’LL WAKE UP TO A DIFFERENT REALITY. >> IT IS A MOTHER’S WORST NIGHTMARE. EVEN NOW, IT IS STILL UNLIVABLE. REPORTER: S’KEISHA REMBERT-WILKERSON IS THE MOTHER OF 18-YEAR-OLD CAYDEN TURNER. THE STUDENT WHO WAS HIT AND KILLED. >> EVEN AFTER GOING TO THE FUNERAL HOME TODAY, PLANNING A FUNERAL FOR HER IS UNIMAGINABLE. REPORTER: SO ARE THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE DEATH. >> I AM GOING TO FIVE YEARS IN VIOLATION OF HIS PRETRIAL CONDITION. REPORTER: A 17-YEAR-OLD HAS BEEN ARRESTED BUT WE’VE LEARNED THIS ISN’T HIS FIRST TIME HE’S BEEN CHARGED WITH DRIVING A STOLEN CAR OR RUNNING OVER SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING IT IN LESS THAN A YEAR. >> OCTOBER 15, 2021. TO DATE, I’M NOT GOING TO FORGET. I CAN ASSURE YOU MY FAMILY WON’T FORGET. REPORTER: BOONE COUNTY DEPUTY LT. CHRIS HALL - IS STILL RECOVERING FROM WHEN HE WAS HIT. IT WAS ALL CAUGHT ON HIS BODY CAM. >> I WENT UP ON THE HOOD A COUPLE OF TIMES. I WAS ABLE TO BYPASS THE WINDSHIELD, THANK GOODNESS, ON THE ROOF A COUPLE OF TIMES. AND I BELIEVE I WAS HIT AND CARRIED WELL OVER 100 FEET SOMEWHERE. REPORTER: COURT DOCUMENTS SHOW - IT WAS THE SAME JUVENILE DRIVER IN BOTH CASES. THEY ALSO SHOW IN BOONE COUNTY, THE ATTEMPTED MURDER OF A POLICE OFFICER CHARGE WAS PLEADED DOWN, TO ASSAULT. THE DOCUMENTS SHOWS HE WAS, RELEASED TO MOM. WITHOUT JAIL TIME. MEANWHILE, THERE IS NO PAROLE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY THE CRIMES. >> THERE’S NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DON’T THINK ABOUT THIS. WHAT’S WHAT GETS ME THROUGH IS MY FAMILY, THE SUPPORT SYSTEM I HAVE HERE WITH THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE IN THE COMMUNITY, YOU KNOW, THEY HAVE OUR BACKS. >> LT. HALL IS WAS OUT 3 MONTHS. HE’S BACK ON THE JOB BUT HE STILL HAS SURGERIES IN FRONT OF HIM. ONE ON A SHOULDER AND ONE ON A KNEE. THAT IS STILL AHEAD. AND OF COURSE THE FAMILY OF THOSE UC STUDENTS ARE FOREVER CHANGE

Same juvenile charged in hit and run death of UC student also hit Boone County deputy
The juvenile who is charged in the hit and run death of a UC student, was still under court supervision for running over a deputy less than a year ago.Court documents show the same juvenile is accused of running over people, using a stole vehicle to do it and leaving the scene in two separate cases.“October 15th, 2021. That date, I'm not going to forget. I can assure you my family won't forget. Still haunts me to this day,” said Boone County deputy Lt. Chris Hall.Hall said deputies were investigating a rash of stolen vehicle when the suspects were spotted in Union driving a stolen vehicle.As deputies approached the car sped thorough yards and almost hit a deputy and took off.Hall said he thought the vehicle was going to head from Rt. 42 in Florence, onto I-75, going the wrong way.As he prepared to throw stop sticks, Hall said the car suddenly changed direction and headed directly at him.“He made a hard right. And I remember hearing the engine. I remember hearing it accelerate,” Hall said. “I remember seeing the BMW logo right here.”Hall was hospitalized and was off work for about three months.The juvenile was charged with the attempted murder of a police officer but pleaded to the lesser charge of assault.Court documents said a one year jail sentence with suspended and he was “released to mom.”The latest charges for the juvenile are after two UC students were hit on Jefferson Avenue. Cayden Turner, 18, was killed.The 17-year-old suspect is accused of driving a stolen vehicle, hitting the two students, crashing then running from the scene.The same juvenile was arrested for having a loaded Glock in his vehicle in June.
