COCONUT CREEK, FLA. (WSVN) - A Coconut Creek teacher has been bestowed a national honor for teaching excellence.
Kevin Finan was one of 20 teachers chosen from across the country to be awarded $50,000 for his program.
He is a machining teacher at Atlantic Technical College and High School.
He said the award validates those who came before him.
“It proves, not just for me, but for all trade teachers the importance of it,” Finan said. “I went to a technical school, so it validates not just the current teachers, I would argue, but also the past teachers who created us.”
He said the money will go toward buying more machines for the school.
