EW's editorial guidelines Updated on November 22, 2022 12:50PM EST Dancing With the Stars season 31 has come to a close and one couple has won the coveted mirrorball trophy. This season the competition show was streaming live coast to coast on Disney+ for the very first time, and is the first show to stream live on the platform. A new group of dancing darlings took the ballroom by storm, including actress Selma Blair, drag queen superstar Shangela, and comedian Wayne Brady. Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough all returned as judges, along with host Tyra Banks and new co-host Alfonso Ribeiro, who was the DWTS season 19 champion. See below for who was eliminated each week, and which star won the season. 01 of 16 Jason Lewis and Peta Murgatroyd Andrew Eccles/ABC Sex and the City star Jason Lewis was the first celeb eliminated in the season 31 premiere after his cha cha failed to impress the judges. You know Samantha Jones' PR firm would've found a way to spin this, but simply put, it's sad to see Smith Jerrod — I mean, Jason Lewis go. 02 of 16 Teresa Giudice and Pasha Pashkov Andrew Eccles/ABC The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice did a jive on week 2's Elvis night that had the judges "All Shook Up." Their votes were split down the middle when it came time for elimination, but ultimately head judge Goodman's vote sent Giudice on the next flight back to Jersey. 03 of 16 Cheryl Ladd and Louis van Amstel ABC/Andrew Eccles Charlie's Angels star Cheryl Ladd proved that "Diamonds Are Forever," but her spot on the show isn't. Her week 3 Bond night Rumba earned her the second lowest score of the night and the judges voted for her to go. 04 of 16 Sam Champion and Cheryl Burke Nathan Martin/ABC Good Morning America contributor and New York weather anchor Sam Champion reunited with longtime pal Cheryl Burke to fulfill his childhood dreams of dancing. But the judges wanted more intensity in his performances and voted to eliminate him in week 4. 05 of 16 Selma Blair and Sasha Farber Selma Blair and dance partner Sasha Farber. Nathan Martin/ABC Although not technically eliminated, actress Selma Blair had to withdraw from the competition due to complications from her multiple sclerosis. On her last performance she said, "This is a dance for everyone who had tried and hoped they could do more, but also the power in realizing when it's time to walk away." 06 of 16 Joseph Baena and Daniella Karagach ABC/Andrew Eccles Fitness model Joseph Baena heard praises from the judges week after week, even winning the title of "best rumba by a male" from judge Carrie Ann Inaba. But in a shocking twist only a day later, Baena was eliminated. 07 of 16 Jessie James Decker and Alan Bersten ABC/Nathan Martin Country singer Jessie James Decker showed improvement each week, even winning Prom Queen in week 5's dance marathon. But she's Comin' Home after her salsa earned low scores on Michael Bublé night. 08 of 16 Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong Jordin Sparks and partner Brandon Armstrong on 'Dancing With the Stars'. ABC/Andrew Eccles American Idol winner Jordin Sparks came into the competition foreign to dance but grew to love it as the weeks went on. After her elimination in week 7, she said that she's excited to continue dancing. 09 of 16 Heidi D'Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev Heidi D'Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev on 'Dancing With the Stars'. ABC/Andrew Eccles Heidi D'Amelio, The D'Amelio Show star and mom to TikTok influencers Charli and Dixie, was saved by the judges both times she landed in the bottom two. But their votes couldn't save her in week 8 when she was sent home automatically for having the lowest score and audience vote of the night. 10 of 16 Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki on 'Dancing With the Stars'. ABC/Andrew Eccles Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino fist-pumped his way into America's hearts. Despite getting the lowest scores on the leaderboard almost every week he made it to week 8, getting eliminated just one week shy of the semifinals. 11 of 16 Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater ABC/Andrew Eccles 90210 star Trevor Donovan came into the competition declaring he'd never really tried to dance before, but ended up hoofing his way to the semifinals with pro dance partner Emma Slater. Unfortunately, Slater's multi-season pattern of being eliminated after dancing a cha-cha continued as the pair earned the lowest scores of the night and were sent home without a shot at a save from the judges. 12 of 16 Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart ABC/Andrew Eccles Coda star Daniel Durant had a stunning run on the show. The previous week, he took viewers' breath away doing a jazz routine in which the music cut out midway to model his experience as deaf performer. He and partner Britt Stewart gave their all in the semifinals, but when it came down to the judges' vote between Durant and charismatic drag queen Shangela, the actor fell just short of moving on to the final round. 13 of 16 Shangela and Gleb Savchenko Nathan Martin/ABC Drag queen superstar Shangela brought her signature pizzazz to every routine, earning her first perfect score in week 7. And halleloo, she made it to the finale and gave a showstopping freestyle complete with appearances from Laganja Estranja, Eureka, and Gleb Savchenko's drag persona Natasha. When it came time to announce the winners, Shangela placed fourth. 14 of 16 Wayne Brady and Witney Carson ABC/Andrew Eccles Comedian and actor Wayne Brady brought his decades of entertainment chops to the ballroom and wowed the judges each week. He entered the competition as a tribute to his late grandmother who loved the show. Brady partner Witney Carson placed third on finale night. 15 of 16 Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy (runners-up) ABC/Andrew Eccles Bachelorette star Gabby Windey came into the competition hesitant to perform, but she broke out of her shell as the weeks went on, getting high praise and scores from the judges. She made it to the finale with partner Val Chmerkovskiy and was named runner-up for the mirrorball trophy. 16 of 16 Charli D'Amelio and Mark Ballas (winners) ABC/Andrew Eccles TikTok star Charli D'Amelio joined the cast alongside her mom Heidi as the first mother/daughter duo to compete on DWTS. Charli proved herself as a powerhouse of dance, earning six perfect scores throughout the season. She won the mirrorball trophy after her freestyle performance alongside pro dancer Mark Ballas was praised by the judges.
