MIAMI (WSVN) - A library in downtown Miami had to be evacuated after reports of a suspicious package found outside the library.

The library, located at 101 W Flagler St., was evacuated after 2:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, but by 4:30, authorities gave the all clear.

A 7News crew on scene did see library workers outside during the evacuation, and they have been allowed back inside.

7News was told by employees of the library that the library needed to be evacuated after two suitcases were found tied around bikes at a bike rack.

The bike racks are located in the center of the plaza.

A security guard is said to have been the person who called authorities about the suspicious package.

7Skyforce hovered over the area as Miami-Dade County Police, Miami Police and the City of Miami Fire Rescue surrounded the area.

Fire Rescue did suit up in hazmat suits.

Once they checked out the package, there was nothing dangerous or hazardous found.

An email was issued to employees that stated an active investigation is happening in the Cultural Center Plaza Complex.

The email also included that the bus stops remain open and are running, along with the Metrorail and Metromover, at this time.

The roads have since opened up, and Miami-Dade PD is the lead investigators in this case.
