People who've been looking for Lupo's fresh meat products in Walmart and Sam's Club stores in recent weeks have been frustrated that they've been unable to find them.

The president of Sam A. Lupo & Sons in West Endicott is hoping it's a temporary situation.

Sam Lupo Jr. said his company's prepared meat items including spiedies, marinated chicken breasts and sausage had been sold by Sam's Club and Walmart locations for decades.

Lupo said Sam's Club stopped stocking the products a couple of months ago and Walmart followed suit about three weeks ago.

Lupo said the stores have been "great customers" and he hopes they'll soon resume stocking his company's items. He said discussions have been underway to address what he believes may have been some "miscommunication" at the headquarters for the retailers in Arkansas.

Lupo's has been putting the word out to customers that the fresh meat items are no longer available at Walmart or Sam's Club - at least for now.

Lupo said his company's products had been stocked by about 25 Walmart and Sam's Club stores in New York and Pennsylvania.
