Fall is in the air and exciting events including fairs, concerts, marathon runs, and costume contests are scheduled for the coming weeks in the Jackson area.

Below we have rounded up some of the upcoming things to do in Jackson:

Tunnel To Towers 5K Run And Walk

The 5K Tunnel to Towers Run and Walk Series was created to honor the life of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and to support first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty.

This year will be the third year the city of Jackson has celebrated the event.

The 5k Run and Walk Series will be approximately 3.1 miles.

The Oct. 8 event is open to everyone and had categories for children 12 and under, children 13 -17, first responders, and military and adults.

Registration will be 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Oct. 8.

Runner will hit the streets for The 5K Tunnel to Towers Run and Walk Series on Saturday, Oct. 8

  • Admission: Adults-$30, First responders/Military-$25, Children 13 to 17-$15, Children 12 and under-$10.

Mississippi Farmers Market

The Mississippi Farmers Market is the place to go for the freshest fruits and vegetables that are grown in the rich Mississippi soil.

The event starts on Oct. 8 and continues every Saturday through Dec. 24 in Jackson.

Breakfast and lunch will be served inside the market.

Doris Berry of Simpson County, operator of a fresh fruit and vegetable stand at the old Farmer's Market near Woodrow Wilson, adds a final touch to the Òboo factorÓ of her Halloween scenes near her business Tuesday afternoon.

Mississippi State Fair Tri-State Rodeo

The highly anticipated Mississippi State Fair Tri-State Rodeo is back in Jackson for the second year.

The event will take place in the Equine Center on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Mississippi State Fair Tri-State Rodeo

Pet Trick or Treat and Costume Contest

The Rankin County Co-Op host a spooky pet trick or treat and costume contest from 5 p.m. to 6:30 pm on Oct. 20 in Brandon.

The event will feature pets of all shapes and sizes with a variety of different costumes.

Attendees are asked to bring their best costumes.

Scarecrow Festival:

Step Outside is bringing the Mississippi Scarecrow Festival in with a bang this year.

The event will feature inflatables, cake walks, train rides, a photo booth, crafts, games, cornhole, face painting, food trucks, live animals, music, and more.
