Weatherly council rejects garbage bids

Weatherly borough council rejected the two garbage bids submitted at its Sept. 26 meeting.

Four bids were expected, but only two submitted and they were high.

Council discussed the borough returning to picking up garbage, but decided to reopen the bidding process instead.

Council accepted a bid of $100 from a neighbor for the vacant borough-owned lot at 114 Hudsondale Street where a home was torn down in 2021.

The Weatherly Community Chest was approved to hold its Halloween parade Oct. 29 with rain date of Oct. 30.

Members of the Weatherly Area Museum came asked to use the former Caboose shop to expand into. The topic will be on the agenda for council’s October meeting.

Trick or treat night is Monday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. Weatherly Area Museum committee was given permission to have its trick or treat night display in the borough building’s parking lot.

Jody Miller Landscaping was given the contract to clear the brush out of the Black Creek, at a cost of $4,500.

Lausanne Township was approved to purchase road salt and anti-skid from the borough this winter.
