ENTIAT - Led by the two-headed monster of QB Landon Crutcher and WR Christian Santos, the Entiat Tigers upset the traditional Westside powerhouse Quilcene Rangers (Pre-Season #2) at Entiat on Saturday, Sept. 24. Crutcher threw for 221 yard on 17-21 passing, and rushed for 105 yards on 12 carries. Santos hauled in 8 receptions for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns for Entiat. In a fantastic back and forth game, it took a huge 4th quarter play by junior Pedro Arias to bring the Tigers home, 44 to 38. Arias added 100 all-purpose yards for the Tigers including 3 TDs.
A high octane offensive explosion by both teams in the second quarter highlighted the first half of Football. Arias scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter to knot the score at 8 to 8 before the second quarter fireworks. Santos returned a kick-off 60 yards to set up his own 10-yard scoring reception from Crutcher, and Crutcher followed that with a nifty 41-yard sprint to pay dirt to cut the Rangers’ lead to 24 to 20. Later, a 42-yard kick return by the Tigers’ Noah Fogelstrom set up a 3-yard TD run by Arias to cut the Rangers’ halftime lead to 32 to 28.
Defense largely prevailed in the second half.  Linebacker Arthuro Delgado led the Tigers with 15 tackles, including 2 for loss. Sebastian Sanchez added 9 tackles of his own. A third quarter touchdown strike from Crutcher to Santos of 39-yards provided Entiat with their first lead of the game. Crutcher hit Monico Robinson-Valdez with his second extra point conversion of the game to make the score 36 to 32.
The fourth quarter witnessed the critical and most exciting moment of the game. An overthrow on a screen pass by Crutcher to Arias led to an interception by the Rangers. The quick reaction of Arias followed, as he raced to tackle and strip the ball away from the defender, and then scooped the ball and raced 22-yards for the decisive score of the game. Quilcene scored late to cut the final score to a 6-point difference, but a late Entiat interception by Santos put a seal on the game for the Tigers.
