It’s official.
Kenny Pickett is the Steelers starting quarterback going into Week 5 against the Bill in Buffalo.
Head coach Mike Tomlin explained the move during his weekly press conference.
“We made the change, obviously Mitch’s performance was a component of the decision but not the only component of the decision, I want to be very clear there,” said Tomlin “Often times the quarterback positions gets too much credit, too much blame.”
Tomlin also explained by they are moving from Trubisky to Pickett.
“In an effort to be better, in an effort to score more points, in an effort to move the ball more fluidly, we’ve decided to go to Kenny in the hopes that he’ll provide a spark for us,” said Tomlin.
The depth chart now shows Pickett as QB1, Mitch Trubisky is QB2 and Mason Rudolph remains on third-team.
Pickett took over for Trubisky after halftime against the New York Jets last Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.
Pickett threw three interceptions but was able to help give the Steelers a 10-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
He also rushed for two touchdowns, and went 10-for-13 for 120 yards in the second half.
At 1-3 the Steelers will look to try to get back on track against a good Bills team Sunday.
