At the risk of our journalistic integrity, we’re going to say something: at some point, in our lifetime, we’d like to see a Charlotte Hornets team contend for the NBA title. 

There is something undeniably cool about the Hornets. Perhaps it’s their color scheme. Moreover, “Buzz City” is just perfect. Yet, for whatever reason, they struggle to put a contender together. 

That’s always been true of the Hornets. Since they came on the scene in the 90s, they’ve boasted talented players like Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, Glen Rice, and more.

Yet, if you dug through their history, you wouldn’t find a single year where people widely believed they might win an NBA title.

With that said, they’ve taken a step in the right direction. After all, LaMelo Ball may be the most talented player to ever wear the uniform.

Still, the Hornets need to put an adequate roster around him if they’re going to be successful during his tenure. Simply put, Ball needs a co-star. 

DeMar DeRozan may do the trick.
