Police say a man faces assault charges for striking a youth football coach in the head with a football helmet and knocking him unconscious during a game.

Police say a man faces assault charges for striking a youth football coach in the head with a football helmet and knocking him unconscious during a game.
Christopher Ryan Polk, 32, of Norwalk, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, risk of jury to a minor and breach of peace.
Police were called to Brien McMahon High School football field around 1 p.m. Sunday and found the coach lying on the ground unconscious.
The coach was transported to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
The coach has since been released and is recovering at home, the commissioner for Norwalk Jr. Football and Cheer says.
Polk was provided with opportunities to turn himself in but refused to comply, according to authorities.
His bond was set at $75,000.
