Henry Cejudo thinks the future for Israel Adesanya in the UFC should be at light heavyweight if he beats Alex Pereira.

Henry Cejudo thinks he knows what’s next for Israel Adesanya.

After much success inside the cage, former two-division champion Henry Cejudo is making a name for himself outside the cage. Cejudo is one of the best MMA coaches in the game right now. He is working with some of the best fighters in the UFC and finding success. His other venture since leaving the UFC is to build up his YouTube channel and comment on fights. He has done just that and built a popular YouTube page. Each week Cejudo holds a Q and A to answer fans’ inquiries about different UFC topics. This week he was asked about what he thinks is next for middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Adesanya has his next fight right in front of him. He will be taking on Alex Pereira in the main event of the upcoming UFC 281 event. Assuming that Adesanya can win, Cejudo thinks he could be headed for a division change

“I think his next move is to fight at 205. He’s gone through the whole middleweight division, there’s nobody at the middleweight division. So he’s gonna have to get the winner of Jiří Procházka and Glover Teixeira, if it was my take, that’s what I would do. Or, this may be a far-fetched idea or you run it back with Kelvin (Gastelum) with the guy who was giving you the toughest fight to this day, the guy that left you lumpy. Can you stop him this time? I think I think Kelvin could really you know, Kelvin, believed he won that fight so we’ll see,” he said.

Henry Cejudo thinks Israel Adesanya is not very entertaining but is a great salesman

Adesanya is a very dominant fighter. He has only lost one fight in his entire UFC career and that was when he made the jump up in weight to face Jan Błachowicz. Now Cejudo feels that light heavyweight could be the home for Adesanya. He feels there are no more challenges for him at middleweight and due to his lack of exciting fights needs to make a change.

“I think going forward, I think light heavyweight too and that’s where he is probably more likely to end up going next, Israel’s pushing it, dude, even though he’s had some sh–ty fights. The UFC, they liked the entertainment aspect of it, even though his fights really don’t deliver according to the entertainment, but he’s a hell of a salesman,” he said. “Give him that.”

Adesanya will of course need to get past Pereira first, which could be a very difficult task. Pereira has defeated Adesanya twice in kickboxing and now could be making it a third, at UFC 281.
