MAHASKA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS DISCUSSES OSKY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, MODES STUDY

Mahaska County Board of Supervisors Discusses Osky Comprehensive Plan, MODES Study

By Sam Parsons

The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors met yesterday and heard a presentation from the city of Oskaloosa on their draft comprehensive plan. They made mention that this week, a series of open houses will be held in the alley at the square on Wednesday between noon and 5pm, and that the plan would be adjusted throughout the month of October before being presented to the city council.

The board also discussed the ongoing Mahaska Oskaloosa Drives Economic Success, or MODES study, and a potential funding agreement with the DOT. This project is about the proposed certified site on the southeast portion of the city, forming connections between highway 23 and 63.

The funding proposal would include a reimbursement for the local match from the federal grant. The meeting went into a closed session for the board’s decision, but the supervisors did agree that the grant was necessary to move the project forward prior to the meeting being closed.

Yesterday evening, the Oskaloosa City Council approved their portion of the DOT agreement.

The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors will hold their next regular meeting on October 17.
