Kelsea Ballerini says decision to end her marriage to Morgan Evans was ‘rough’

Kelsea Ballerini has opened up about pulling the plug on her marriage to Morgan Evans, calling the decision “rough.”

As previously reported, Page Six confirmed in August that Ballerini filed for divorce from Evans after nearly five years of marriage.

While promoting her new album, “Subject to Change,” the 29-year-old singer told CBS Mornings that her decision to get divorced didn’t happen overnight.

“I think when there’s a big life decision like that, it’s not a sudden one,” the “Half of my Hometown” hitmaker said.

“There’s a lot that happens before that becomes public. So, I’m on my, like, active healing journey. A big part of that is showing up for this album and showing up for myself like I never have.”

“It’s rough, it’s not chaotic. It’s not, like, volatile, it just didn’t work,” she explained. “And that sometimes is like a difficult narrative to get your head around when you’re like, ‘Oh, my gosh. This is a good person. And I’m a good person. And this is just no longer good anymore.’”

Ballerini admitted she’s “really proud” of herself for pushing through the challenges that came with the divorce.

“I’m a peacemaker. We’ve talked about this before. I’m a people pleaser. So, to do something that kind of goes against those two things is really difficult,” she said. “And I’m really proud of myself.”

Ballerini and Evans, 37, tied the knot in December 2017 following their engagement one year prior. For his part, Evans said via his own Instagram Stories that he was “very sad to confirm” the breakup.
