Monday’s episode of 9-1-1 closed the book on a tragic story from Athena’s past — one she didn’t even know was left unwritten. (Alexa, play Natasha Bedingfield.)
Following Bobby and Junior’s discovery of young Tanya Kingston’s body underneath the Grants’ house, local authorities immediately began circling Athena’s father’s hospital room like vultures. So when they gave Athena explicit orders not to play cop, she had no choice but to disregard those instructions. And she copped hard.
Bobby and Athena’s first stop was Tanya’s childhood home, where her grown sister Joanne welcomed them with a loaded gun. Once tensions subsided, however, Joanne recalled the night her sister disappeared, admitting that Tanya followed her out to a bonfire — a detail she conveniently left out of her original statement.
Armed with this new information, it only required putting a few more puzzle pieces into place to deduce that Junior was the person responsible for Tanya’s death; when she refused his advances, he followed her into the orange grove, where he chased her down and ended her life. As for how Tanya’s remains made their way under the Grants’ home, it was explained that Junior’s father — who considered it his sworn duty to protect his son at all costs — encased her body in the cement after attempting to erode the corpse.
First a car accident, now all of this? Bobby and Athena need to get the heck out of Florida ASAP.

Too obvious… more likely the current contractor’s father or the contractor himself when he was younger… and his dad hid the body. Athena said he used to chase her… good thing he never caught her…
I had to pause it and look up that amazing song. Nina Simone was not of this world.

Loved the soundtrack…Nina, Stevie, The Spinners, The Commodores!!! 💕💕💕
I knew there was no way Robert E was a child killer 😁
Exactly! I recognized him right away.
SUCH a good episode!! I called the twist to my friends but everyone said it wasn’t right, it couldn’t be him, he was so nice! Just like an actual killer, like Athena said. Just proof it was a BRILLIANTLY written twist. 10/10!
This was chilling episode but I liked it
Good episode and Angela B is incomparable, but I enjoy 911 SO much more when it is the whole ensemble. The show should be about the 118 and rescues, that is what I tune in for
It’s a good episode but maybe too similar to “Athena Begins” where she solved the murder of her fiance Emmett Washington. That was an exceptional episode, one of the best 911 has done, and packed a punch that this one doesn’t quite have.
Amazing episode! Very emotional. You could feel the pain in Athena when she wanted to believe her father wasn’t capable of such things, but couldn’t say for certain he couldn’t be because she’s seen so much hidden evil in her line of work. The emotional turmoil she had, and Bobby being the one to steer her into gear because he knew she could do it. Powerful episode. The young actor who played Tanya did a great job too
Great episode. I put two and two together they visited the young girl’s older sister then figured it was the son after the father visited the hospital appearing very remorseful.
When is it coming to the uk tv
Eh. If I wanted to watch an episode about solving a murder, I’d watch a police procedural. I love Angela Bassett and thought she was great but was mostly bored by the rest of the cast of characters and the flashbacks. I can’t wait till we get back to some 911 and emergencies and rescues next week.
Exceptional showcase for everyone involved and I actually watched the episode twice – but I, too, sat there wishing for even a glimpse of the 118 family back at the firehouse. Next week looks very promising and a return to the norm!
this was such an excellent episode, already one of its best. usually not a big fan of when the show focuses on only one character (or two, in this case), but this episode was so well-written.
angela bassett was a powerhouse as usual.
and phew; that scene with young junior and tanya in the back of this truck made me SO uncomfortable. really well done.
Lol, lamest investigation ever… the victim’s room hasn’t been touched in 45 years? And the killer still drives the same truck? It’s like they weren’t even trying to write a good mystery…
