CPD warns residents about string of violent robberies, including 12 Monday morning

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are warning residents about a series of violent armed robberies across the city, including 12 that happened Monday morning.

Investigators said the robberies follow a similar pattern. They said a group of two to four men donning masks, and armed with handguns, approach their victims on the street, demand property, threaten violence, and take off in stolen vehicles.

In one case, a 46-year-old man was shot outside of a West Side gas station after refusing to give up his belongings.

Police said the victims in several other cases were struck in the head. The recent rash of robberies comes after five were reported between 10 – 11:45 p.m. last Tuesday.

The warnings were sent to residents of downtown, the Near West Side, Logan Square, River North, and Lakeview.

The incidents date back to Sept. 27:

-600 block of West Fullerton Avenue on Sept. 27 at 10:08 p.m.

-1400 block of West Lake Street on Sept. 27 at 11:30 p.m.

-1300 block of West Fulton Street on Sept. 27 at 11:32 p.m.

-500 block of West Division Street on Sept. 27 at 11:38 p.m.

-1600 block of North Claremont Avenue on Sept. 27 at 11:40 p.m.

-200 block of North Western Avenue on Oct. 3 at 1 a.m.

-1100 block of North Hooker Street on Oct. 3 at 1:40 a.m.

-1500 block of North Larrabee Street on Oct. 3 at 1:50 a.m.

-1400 block of North Larrabee Street on Oct. 3 at 1:52 a.m.

-300 block of West Hubbard Street on Oct. 3 at 2 a.m.

-2100 block of South Prairie Avenue on Oct. 3 at 2:10 a.m.

-500 block of West Roosevelt Road on Oct. 3 at 2:14 a.m.

-700 block of West Grand Avenue on Oct. 3 at 2:34 a.m.

-700 block of West Jackson Boulevard on Oct. 3 at 2:43 a.m.

-1500 block of West Taylor Street on Oct. 3 at 3:05 a.m.

-1500 block of North Ashland Avenue on Oct. 3 at 3:32 a.m.

-2800 block of West Chicago Avenue on Oct. 3 at 3:40 a.m.

Police have requested that anyone with information contact Area Three detectives.
