Your Strictly routine?

Mine is:

Put Strictly on to record, and begin watching half an hour after start time

Fast forward through opening dance , clips of contestants rehearsing / dancing in inappropriate places and Clauditorium

Watch the dances and the judges comments and voting

Vote, vote, vote!

Check Spoiler thread … a lot!

Same process on Sunday night, just watching the dances and the judges vote.

Later in the series I do sometimes watch the rehearsal room footage, if I’ve got committed to a couple … like with Giovanni and Rose last year.

This works for me, so don’t shoot me!

When I first saw the heading of your post, I thought you meant which routine would you like to dance on Strictly! So in answer to the question you didn't ask, the Charleston every time. In answer to the question you did ask., I usually watch the whole thing start to finish as it happens, and use my three free internet votes on the couple(s) I liked the most. Then, like you, check the spoiler thread - although often not until the following morning.

    1) The rumba,

    2) I watch it live from the start, pausing (and then fast forwarding as necessary) when a "comfort break" is needed. I use my 3 free votes and then take my dog out to pee. Check the spoiler thread in the morning in the early weeks, and last thing at night later on.

My night to really indulge in my favourite wine and one of my favourite programmes.

I have it on record in case I miss the beginning, however I'm usually ready, wine in hand, candle lit and ready for SCD action.

Hubby pops his head around the door when he hears me clap, shout or cry. He's usually cooking dinner. Sister texts me about her favourite dance etc, but I don't encourage her. I need to watch and enjoy.

I seldom fast forward, but occasionally when I need to. For all the moaning I often do about it I LOVE the show,

    Never look at the spoilers.

Did I say I love SCD, Long may it reign. <3

Saturday night is roast dinner night in our house, so it's cook and eat roast dinner, couple of bottles of Sauvignon or Chardonnay, so very relaxed for Strictly. Grab some chocolates, feet up on sofa, switch on, enjoy ! Hopefully someone will bring me a mug of something half way through.

I often watch it with my mum; either she pops round and we’ll get a takeaway or I’ll go to her with some snacks to share!

I use both mine & Mr C’s free votes (usually Mr C watches with us and votes for who we tell him to :D but if he doesn’t we’ll use his bbc account to vote too). Then I’ll try and pop on here for a quick chat & debrief, see what others are saying about the performances, and to check the spoiler thread.

Recently I’ve been doing a lot of babysitting on weekends for a family member who is in a bit of a crappy situation, so in the coming weeks if I’m doing that, I’ll be recording the show and catching up on Sunday.

My routine is very simple. Get the dogs well-walked and fed; get us fed; curl up under comfort blankie with ipad to watch with ten minutes to go. (We don’t have a TV.) I try not to rewatch my favourites’ dances and the guff while the show’s going on cos I don’t want to miss the voting window, but nevertheless I rewatch my favourites and then have to rush to vote. Oh, and I grin like an idiot all thro. It gets to the end and I discover again my cheeks are aching.

Watch it with four tabs open on the laptop: the Guardian live blog, and James Jordan, Frankie & Clover, and Ariadne on twitter.
    Use my 3 votes.
    Read various bits of DS.
Wait for the spoiler to come in.

And my other routine would be an Aljaz waltz to Kissing You, loaded with arm-hankies and pivots.

Mine's kind of dull, but you did ask.

On a typical week, if I'm not out:

Watch the show live, with no distractions.

Vote (free votes only early on, there might be a phone vote top-up later into the run).

Come onto DS to read what everyone else thought and to make some posts myself.

 With a pause button* and only when blissfully by myself. It's very different when there's company.

I watch on iPlayer on the TV, live or slightly behind. I had problems last year with iPlayer pretending it was pausing when I needed to leave the room and coming back to find it had rudely carried on behind a fake paused screen so now it’s a case of once it’s on I don’t move.

I start watching when dinner is ready and whoever fancies watching it with me will join me. DH and DD14 largely not bothered but last week they sat through it with me and behaved themselves. It was nice to have company while hiding behind a blanket cringing at Matt’s dance and they did laugh along with me. Good to have others in the room when I’m shouting at the TV regarding the scores. They joined in too.

There will be a gin and tonic or two consumed while watching, especially while the show is so long and drawn out.

DD16 was my Strictly viewing pal for the last ten years or so but now more often than not she is out or working on Saturday nights and I’m usually too impatient to wait until Sunday to watch with her (plus wouldn’t be able to vote.) So I watch the dance videos on YouTube with her late Saturday night or Sunday morning and quite enjoy the speed of running through them like that, plus seeing if her opinions are different.

Didn’t vote last week as we were a bit too far behind and I’m not bothered yet but once I get a proper favourite or two, I’ll make sure dinner is ready in time for us to start the show with time to vote. We have three BBC accounts between us but DD14 lets me use her votes however I want to as she’s not bothered who we vote for.

Sometimes I’ll load up the show thread on here on my iPad while watching to see if others are feeling the same way but usually I wait until afterwards and read it in bed along with 5 thoughts. Avoided the spoiler thread on Saturday but that never lasts longer than three or four weeks once I’m properly invested. So there’s usually an hour or so’s DS reading before I go to bed.

I also thought the question was going to be which Strictly routine would you like to do and that’s easy for me: Apolo Ohno’s Dancing With The Stars samba (with him) or I’m fine with doing either of the sambas Gorka did with Alex or Maisie (with Gorka of course.)

It’s on series record, but I always double check in the afternoon, just in case. I start watching about 20 minutes after the start so I can zip through various bits (titles, announcing the lines are open, as they go up the stairs and we see a reprise of the dance etc). I log on to the voting page and set a pinger for 10 minutes before the voting ends so I don’t miss it. After the show I see what people are saying on DS.

Other type of Strictly routine? I think I’d love to dance a foxtrot. Maybe an AS version (but without lifts). In my fantasy world (the younger, fitter version of me) I’d probably choose a Quickstep :)

Saturday afternoon, make a curry and make sure there is enough alcohol in the cupboard. Saturday evening unplug the phone, switch off mobile phone. Put curry and rice in warmer... tell hubby to help himself when he's hungry. As music starts, I have my first, much needed drink. When show ends, put 2 votes on.

    1. Live in a house of blokes so, usually on my own with wine and nibbles. Watch dances, critique and scores, attention wanders during the filler 😂

    2. I’d love to do a Tango......would need tall male dancer as I’m a 5ft 10 lady 💃🏼💃🏼🕺🏿🕺🏿

I settle down to watch it live without interruption from the beginning, although my attention wanders during the routines done by the people I've no interest in or the no-hopers! I always vote for my favourites and I never look at any spoilers, so I can enjoy Sunday's Results show the better.

We have SCD on series link, so don’t start until at least 30 mins into the programme. We order a take-away & eat off trays, we have it with a bottle of wine while watching. We like to see what everyone is wearing & any show-dance (if it is hideous we FF but there haven’t been too many bloopers the last couple of years, from memory). We always FF the judges scripted ‘b*ll*cks (or in the case of Motsi word-salad). We may pause to get another drinky, or a Magnum towards the end. We like Claudia & the goings on in the background but FF the scores. Never watch the re-cap dances & do not vote on any TV programme: since finding out about the dodgy goings on years ago! (Don’t trust any of them & tbh can’t be ars*d anyway). We just see it as an entertainment programme & ignore the competition side of it now. My fave routine would be a Samba: done properly with the roll, bounce & proper ‘fundamentals’ to great party/festival music (without the imho unneccasary disco/Beyoncé/African themes).

I watch with Mr Spratt, who pretends not to know what anyone is called but still insists on talking about them. He very much liked Rose last series., but still managed not to be able to remember her name. I try to make something for tea which won’t take me out of the room very much. Mr Spratt then starts asking me if the spoiler has been posted.

my routine would be a hot greek salsa dance with newbie Michelle Tsiakkas, and a real salsa without any lifts but pure dance content

I would like to reprise my favourite dance from my youthful dancing days, a waltz to Moon River with Flavia.

Awww I love this! I’ve watched since series 1 when I was a kid, and now me and my six year old make an absolute event of it. Takeaway or cook something nice and watch after I’ve got my little ones to bed. We usually do some drawing or painting whilst we watch, and then vote online.

I always used to lurk here so I’ve decided to join in this year!

Oh and an Argentine Tango for sure. With Kai or Johnannes because they’re adorable.

Pretty much what I do, although I do tend to fast forward through the contestants I am not keen on and some of the judges' comments (Motsi, I'm looking at you  ) and I usually check the spoiler thread the following morning.

My husband (who apparently hates Strictly) asks what time its on and we plan making sure we have dinner ready or ordered before it starts and have our drinks ready to go

We watch the full show, commenting & each giving our scores and comments, I watch Twitter and Digital spy Forums at the same time - sometimes we record and watch on delay just in case all the rehearsal vids are stupid comic sketches (we want to see the celebs learning the routine!)

I check for the spoiler first thing sunday morning and only tell my husband if he asks

Also my routine would be the Jive, just because it's my favourite dance and I'd love to give it a go :):)
