A motorcycle rider died last Thursday after colliding with the side of an SUV that was making a turn off Highway 101 in Tillamook County, Oregon State Police said.
The crash was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday along Highway 101 near milepost 70, at the South Prairie Road intersection.
Initial reports state someone heading south on the highway in a black Toyota 4Runner made a lefthand turn onto the road, directly in front of a northbound Harley Davidson FIS motorcycle.
The Harley collided with the side of the Toyota. The motorcycle rider, 73-year-old Carl Anderson, of Tillamook, was pronounced dead.
The SUV’s driver was unhurt in the crash, troopers said.
Highway 101 was closed for four hours while Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash.
State Police had help from the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon Department of Transportation.
