Colts All-Pro RB Jonathan Taylor 'has a chance' to play Week 5 vs. Broncos

A slew of big-name NFL running backs suffered injuries during Week 4 play on Sunday, including Javonte Williams of the Denver Broncos and Cordarrelle Patterson of the Atlanta Falcons. Perhaps the most notable name to make his way onto the injury report coming out of the weekend, however, is Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor.

The 2021 First Team All-Pro and first-time Pro Bowler suffered a turf toe injury during practice last week but still suited up for the Colts' Sunday loss to the Tennessee Titans. "JT" had a tough game, producing a season-low 42 rushing yards on 20 carries without a touchdown, and losing a fumble as well.

Taylor suffered an ankle sprain on the lost fumble as well. Despite the pair of injuries, the team is still monitoring the Wisconsin product's status and he reportedly still has a shot at playing in Week 5.

Taylor's one missed practice last week was his first missed session not only in his NFL career but dating back to before his high school days. Taylor played in all 17 games in 2021, pacing the league in rushing attempts (332), rushing yards (1,811), rushing touchdowns (18), longest rushing attempt (83 yards), rushing yards per game (106.5), and yards from scrimmage (2,171).

Since a big Week 1 where he ran for 161 yards and scored his only touchdown of the season, the 23-year-old has struggled, gaining only 167 yards in his last three contests.
