Dodgers News: Tyler Anderson Cares About More Than Regular Season Success

The Dodgers inked a deal with Tyler Anderson back in March and at the time he was looked at as a solid free agent signing.

He was one of the better remaining free agents at the time and he came off a season split between the Pirates and Mariners in which he had a 4.53 ERA in 167 plus innings.

You wouldn’t have believed that if this was your first time watching Anderson pitch the entire season.
The 32-year-old has had a career year and has revitalized himself in Los Angeles. He has earned the most wins of his career at 15, a career-high in ERA at 2.54, second most innings pitched at 173.2, and a career-best 0.99 WHIP in 2022. Despite the regular season numbers, the southpaw says he has bigger fish to fry and hopes his success continues into October.

Tyler Anderson said he had a "good" regular season (currently 5th in NL in ERA), but added, "I didn't want to come here to have a good regular season. I wanted to come to have a chance to be in the postseason. Once that starts, hopefully the best starts are ahead of me."

It’s nice to see Anderson have his eyes on the prize, but to say he’s just been “good” is an understatement.

I love how he is focused and believes he can do better. He came in as someone who might piggyback some starters from time to time to solidify his spot in the rotation come postseason time. So, no one could’ve forseen this type of season from Anderson, but that’s what happens when you sign with the best organization in the world with a wizard of a pitching coach in Mark Prior.

We look forward to seeing Anderson on the mound for the playoffs and continuing his “good” season.
