SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – A young Oakley woman, likely the victim of homicide, has been missing for several months.

While Alexis Gabe's family and law enforcement have continued to search for her body, a recent endeavor found remains in Amador County, as first reported by KTVU.

But the bones found in Pioneer, CA, apparently came from an animal, Jarret Benov, an operations captain the Amador County Sheriff's Office told KCBS Radio on Monday.

"We had a forensic anthropologist take a look at them and they are not human," he said.

"We don't have any bones outstanding or out for testing that would be related to the Gabe case," said Benov.

Gabe, 24, was last seen on Jan. 26 in Antioch visiting the home of her boyfriend, Marshall Jones.

Police believe that Jones likely killed Gabe, and he was fatally shot during an attempt to serve him with an arrest warrant in Washington state in June.

Jones had charged at officers outside a home in Kent, Washington with a knife when he was shot and killed. He'd moved there not long after Gabe had gone missing.

While the remains found were not Gabe's, Pioneer has been an area of interest in the case.

Jones reportedly had written detailed directions to the small town as a place to dispose of Gabe, the station reported, in discarded notes found in the trash at his sister’s home.

The Amador County Sheriff's Office did not respond to KCBS Radio’s request for comment at the time of publication.
