Manitou Springs announces Indigenous Peoples Weekend celebrations

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- As part of Manitou Springs' 150-year celebration of "city life and who we are," the city has announced a weekend full of Indigenous Peoples Day-related events.

This year will be Manitou Springs' second annual celebration since the passage of Resolution No. 0421, designating the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples Day.

A schedule of events can be found below:

Saturday, October 8th:

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Manitou Springs City Hall: Meet & Greet with Southern Ute Kenny Frost, and Uncompahgre Utes Jonas Grant Bullethead, and Joy Grant Bullethead.

Sunday, October 9th:

9:00 a.m.: Historic Ute Trail horse ride with the relatives of Chief Ouray, Chief Buckskin Charley, and Chief Nanice

10:00 a.m., Cheyenne Spring Parklet: Rededication of the Ute Trail

11:00 a.m.: Mineral Springs blessing at Seven-Minute Springs font.

1:00 p.m., Manitou Springs City Hall: “Food from the Earth” Potluck, featuring Seven-Minute Stew.
