'Rogue Heroes' Trailer: A Wild Group Of Soldiers Form The SAS In New Action Series From 'Peaky Blinders' Creator

To say that we’ve seen quite a few series and films about World War II is a gross understatement. There have been plenty of attempts to tell stories about the war against Nazis. So, if you want to get our attention, you better do something different. Thankfully, that’s where “Rogue Heroes” comes in.

As seen in the trailer for “Rogue Heroes,” the film follows the story of a group of British soldiers during WWII who form a new Special Forces group, the Special Air Service (SAS). But these soldiers aren’t just the elite men of the British Armed Forces, they are also wildcards. “Rogue Heroes” definitely has shades of something like “Inglourious Basterds.”

The series stars Connor Swindells, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Allen, and Sofia Boutella. “Rogue Heroes” is written and created by Steven Knight, who is best known as the person behind the acclaimed drama series, “Peaky Blinders.” The series is directed by Tom Shankland, who recently helmed “The Serpent.”

“Rogue Heroes” debuts on EPIX this fall. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Rogue Heroes is a dramatized account of how the world’s greatest Special Forces unit, the Special Air Service (SAS), was formed under extraordinary circumstances in the darkest days of World War II. Based on Ben Macintyre’s best-selling book of the same name, the series centers on David Stirling, an eccentric young officer who is hospitalized after a training exercise gone wrong. Convinced that traditional commando units don’t work, Stirling creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare. He fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest, and brightest soldiers for a small undercover unit that will create mayhem behind enemy lines. More rebels than soldiers, Stirling’s team is every bit as complicated, flawed, and reckless as it is brave and heroic.
