Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has filmed some crash scenes involving its latest villain, Stephen Reid.

In pictures obtained by Digital Spy, actor Todd Boyce can be seen in the role of Stephen as a fight breaks out with some young thugs.

Stephen is out for delivery when his bike gets targeted by the gang. In one of the images, the rider speeds off before crashing, with his body laying still on the tarmac. Is this the end for the killer of Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost)?

In earlier episodes, Stephen had returned to the cobbles with some secret financial problems. His plan was to defraud his mother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) so he could fix his situation.

After Leo discovered Stephen's real intentions, the two had a heated brawl on the factory gantry. Leo suffered a blow to the head and fell over the railings, his motionless body landing in a commercial bin below.

A horrified Stephen decided to hide the truth to save himself. He stole Leo's phone, passport and suitcase, making everyone believe he'd left for Canada.

"Stephen manages to make it seem like Leo is in Canada. He sneaks into the pub, because he overhears from Gemma that the suitcase and the passport are in the back room. It was very creepy sneaking into an empty pub and doing that," Boyce told Digital Spy and other media last month.

"So for all the world, the passport's gone, the suitcase is gone, he's sending text messages saying everything's great in Canada. So it's the perfect cover."

It hasn't been confirmed when the bike crash scenes will air – is the attack connected to Stephen's web of lies?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
