After receiving a record number of nominations, 50 companies have risen from the adversity of the past couple years and earned the right to call themselves Arizona’s Most Admired Companies of 2022. The Most Admired Companies of 2022 includes FirstBank.

Arizona’s Most Admired Companies of 2022 will be celebrated at an awards dinner and ceremony from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Chateau Luxe, at 1175 E. Lone Cactus Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85024.

Top Arizona executive: Humphrey Shin, market president

What it does: One of the nation’s largest privately-held banks.

Admirable trait: To promote Arizona Gives Day, FirstBank organizes a “Give It Forward” event to spur donations to nonprofits. FirstBank employees have covered vet bills, pumped free fuel for commuters, surprised Arizonans with free groceries and even went undercover as restaurant servers to surprise diners by paying their tab. FirstBank’s efforts helped Arizona Gives Day raise more than $6 million for Arizona nonprofits in 2022 alone and in excess of $35 million for more than 1,000 nonprofits since its inception in 2013. Locally, FirstBank has also donated more than $4 million to Arizona organizations since 2007.

DEI efforts: In early 2020, FirstBank opened a Multicultural Banking Center focused on extending financial services to Hispanic, Asian, and Black/African-American communities. The Center joins the bank’s growing list of Asian and Spanish Banking Centers, where customers can receive banking services in their native language, ranging from Cantonese to Vietnamese to Ethiopian dialects and more.
