The case against three people accused of killing a homeless man in Pontiac has been bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.

Following a preliminary exam in 50th District Court, Judge Ronda Gross determined there was probable cause to advance the case against Alice Marie Preacher aka Alice Marie Anthony, 51, Brian Catorie Bonner, 41, and Romaro Lee Wilson, 29, for the March 24 death of Tobby Robert Farrington, 50, of Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said Farrington’s naked and badly beaten body was found with multiple stab wounds on March 25 in a grassy area in the 100 block of South Merrimac Street near Terry Lake in Pontiac. It had been wrapped in a bed comforter and a plastic bag had been placed over the head.

Farrington died from asphyxiation from being strangled with a rope. He had also been stabbed repeatedly. Detectives said he was killed inside a home near Saginaw Street and Woodward Avenue where he had been staying, getting drugs from Preacher in exchange for performing odd jobs around the house, the sheriff’s office said. Wilson also lived there and Bonner was a frequent visitor, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives believe Preacher became angry at Farrington over a financial transaction.

Preacher, Bonner and Wilson are charged with open murder and concealing the death of an individual.

Arraignment for the three is scheduled for Oct. 11 before Oakland County Circuit Judge Rae Lee Chabot.
