Hospital patients in area impacted by Hurricane Ian are being transferred to South Florida

Some hospitals in our area are taking in patients from hospitals on the southwest Florida coastline where Hurricane Ian came ashore last week.

The powerful category 4 storm knocked out power and also caused disruptions in the water supply.

According to a hospital spokesperson, HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Atlantis received 9 patients from Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton and Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital East in Boynton Beach have also received patients from southwest Florida.

A spokesperson for Baptist Health South Florida, which operates several hospitals in south Florida including Bethesda Hospital East, says they have taken in 45 patients at their various locations in Florida from hospitals in southwest Florida where Hurricane Ian made landfall.
