Ed Sheeran is returning to Nashville for Nissan Stadium concert in 2023

Expect a few summer "Shivers" next July, Nashville — pop superstar Ed Sheeran returns to Music City for a one-night show at Nissan Stadium.

The powerhouse British hitmaker plays the Tennessee Titans' homefield July 22, a Saturday night. "American Teen" soul singer Khalid offers main support and upcoming artist Cat Burns opens the show.

Tickets to the North American leg of Sheeran's "Mathematics" tour go on sale Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. via axs.com. Fan pre-sale ticket options open as early as Oct. 12 at 10 a.m.

Sheeran — an adopted Titans fan who once briefly called Nashville "home" — returns to Music City nearly five years after his first Nissan Stadium headlining gig in 2018. At the time, the singer-songwriter toured solo in front of his stadium-sized audiences — a move unlike other large-scale pop shows typically anchored by backup players and flashy visuals.

Sheeran, Spotify's top global artist at publication time, tours next summer in support of his 2021 album "=," which includes hits "Bad Habits" and "Shivers." He's known for a sugary sweet pop sound carved on past hits "Perfect," "Photograph" and "Thinking Out Loud."

And while Sheeran no longer lives in Nashville he's no stranger to a Music City collaboration. Sheeran surprised audiences earlier this year at a Luke Combs concert in London to sing "Dive" with the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year; he's previously cut songs with Chris Stapleton and, of course, Taylor Swift.

His North American stadium tour kicks off May 6 in Arlington, Texas; it wraps Sept. 23 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
