SEATTLE — Gas prices saw a sharp increase over the past week, rising 46.5 cents in Seattle to bring the city's average to $5.37 a gallon, according to GasBuddy's survey of 775 local stations.
That figure is up 49.7 cents a gallon from a month ago and $1.42 a gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.
This marks the second straight week of increases after 14 consecutive weeks of drops. The cheapest gas in Seattle on Sunday cost $4 a gallon; the most expensive was $5.99 a gallon.
Tacoma ($5.26 per gallon average, up 58.1 cents from a week ago), Yakima ($5.01, up 38 cents) and Washington state ($5.19, up 46.3 cents) all saw price increases since last week.
Nationally, gas rose 11.1 cents over the past week, bringing the average $3.78 per gallon.
The national average price of diesel has declined 2.9 cents in the last week and stands at $4.86 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.
